Tonight we enter the second of the seven weeks of the Omer which corresponds to the Sefira of Gevurah, the channel for judgment, discipline, and strength in the universe. The biblical “chariot” for this energy is Isaac the Patriarch. This week affords us the opportunity to work on our own judgment—judgment of ourselves, others, and situations— which blocks us from spiritual growth and freedom. The plan of action for this week is two-fold: 1. To replace victim mentality with self-responsibility. 2. To let go of the negativity that keeps us stuck. Let me explain. When the universe brings us an uncomfortable situation or when someone says something to us that we don’t like or that hurts us, our first reaction is usually to judge: “She doesn’t know what she’s talking about. How could they do that to me? I can’t believe he said that”… Sound familiar? But what we don’t realize is that the minute we fall into this kind of judgmental consciousness, we block ourselves from the opportunity that is being presented to us. The healing for any negativity, tension, or lack of human dignity that we witness or experience ourselves comes from the understanding that when something happens, our consciousness cannot be “OK, what did he do to me and why?” but rather, “What is the correction inside of me that I need to look at so that I can change that part of my being?” The more we embrace the consciousness of looking inward to take responsibility and change rather than looking outward to judge, the freer we become, and the freer we become, the more we touch and reveal our own power. Exercise for the week: When you find yourself falling into judgment or blame, pause for a moment and recognize that you are 100% responsible for everything you experience. Then ask yourself a few simple questions: 1. Can I embrace this experience as an opportunity to reconnect to the Light within me? 2. What aspect of myself is this person or situation bringing to light that I need to let go of or change? |
