Psychometry (OM)

Vibrational Imprints
Like you, the objects you encounter have stories to tell as the previous owners have left their vibrational imprint.

Because our bodies exude energy, we leave behind a vibrational imprint each time we touch or live in close proximity to an object. These imprints, which may be positive or negative memories, emotions, or impressions, can become part of the history of an item. Like you, the objects you encounter have stories to tell. Psychometry is the natural art of reading an object’s history in regard to the people and events it has encountered. The objects we associate with are by no means silent bystanders. A house in which a tragedy has occurred may feel cold or silent, while handling a much loved toy may make you feel good. It is widely believed that all human beings possess psychometric abilities. All objects vibrate at specific frequencies, and psychometry asks only that one tune in to those frequencies.

It is common to learn the art of psychometry by using items such as jewelry or a watch, because these objects spend much of their time in close physical proximity to its owners. Information sensed using psychometry usually has to do with an object’s owner and may be related to a location, a feeling, or an event. Emotions tend to be easier to sense, though it can take time and diligence to perfect your psychometric talents. To exercise your psychometric skills, relax and sit in a quiet place with your palms facing upward. Have a friend place one of their treasured possessions in your nondominant hand. Let your mind wander until you receive any impressions. Finally, relate what you have seen, heard, or felt.

By simply by holding an object in your hand or putting it to your forehead, you can sense an object’s past and vicariously experience the emotions, sounds, tastes, scents, or images that have transpired around it thus far. While psychometry is most often performed on small objects intimately connected to its owners, it is possible for humans to leave an imprint on a large object like a home or automobile and to receive impressions from these objects. Once you know an object’s story, you can release it of its memories or marvel at the wealth of information cradled within.

MY Love For You Is Infinite (EC)

It matters not what mistakes you have made in the past as long as you are determined to do your very best Now. I never hold anything against you at any time. I never hit you over the head with all your faults and failings and keep you on your knees in the gutter. I AM Love, and love only sees the very best in the beloved. You are My beloveds. My love for you is infinite; I see only the very best in each one of you.

Dreams (S)

Now here you go again
You say you want your freedom
Well, who am I to keep you down?
It's only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness

Like a heartbeat.. drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

[Chorus:]
Thunder only happens when it's raining
Players only love you when they're playing
Say... Women... they will come and they will go
When the rain washes you clean... you'll know, you'll know

Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions
I keep my visions to myself
It's only me
Who wants to wrap around your dreams and...
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Dreams of loneliness...

Like a heartbeat... drives you mad...
In the stillness of remembering what you had...
And what you lost...
And what you had...
And what you lost

[Chorus 2x]

The Upside of Challenges and Pressure (KB)

When a plane is about to land, it needs all of its power to resist its speed so that it can touch down safely. The force of it pushes with great pressure.

In the same way, true spiritual growth involves pressure and resistance. We cannot expect spiritual Light to just to flow into our life and everything will be perfect.

The eventuality is that each one of us, each part and each speck of every human being, will be returned to the Endless in its wholeness. But this will take work on our part. It will take pressure in the form of challenges that we face. It will take resisting and overcoming adversity. But more than anything else, it will take our ability to have the certainty that the Lightforce of the Creator can bring us there.

On this day of your life

On this day of your life,

Neytiri & Jake, I believe God wants you to know...

...that when you see the light at the end of the tunnel, it
is not beneficial to go out and build more tunnels.

It was John Quinton who observed that politicians do
that. Maybe you've caught yourself doing it, too. Just
when things look like they're getting better, you start
seeing more things that "aren't right,"
or "could go wrong."

The Universe is essentially a friendly place.
So friendly, in fact, that it will give you
exactly what you expect it to.

Isn't that wonderful? Of course,
it depends on what you expect...

Drunk in Love (S)

[Intro: Beyoncé]
I've been drinking, I've been drinking
I get filthy when that liquor get into me
I've been thinking, I've been thinking
Why can't I keep my fingers off it, baby?
I want you, na na
Why can't I keep my fingers off it, baby?
I want you, na na

[Verse 1: Beyoncé]
Cigars on ice, cigars on ice
Feeling like an animal with these cameras all in my grill
Flashing lights, flashing lights
You got me faded, faded, faded
Baby, I want you, na na
Can't keep your eyes off my fatty
Daddy, I want you, na na
Drunk in love, I want you

[Hook: Beyoncé]
We woke up in the kitchen saying,
"How the hell did this shit happen?"
Oh baby, drunk in love we be all night
Last thing I remember is our beautiful bodies grinding up in the club
Drunk in love

[Bridge: Beyoncé]
We be all night, love, love
We be all night, love, love

[Verse 2: Beyoncé]
We be all night,
And everything alright
No complaints from my body, so fluorescent under these lights
Boy, I'm drinking,
Park it in my lot 7-11
I'm rubbing on it, rub-rubbing, if you scared, call that reverend
Boy, I'm drinking, get my brain right
Armand de brignac, gangster wife
Louie sheets, he sweat it out like wash rags he wear it out
[Studio version:] Boy, I'm drinking, I'm singing on the mic to my boy toys
[Video/Live version:] Boy, I'm drinking, I'm singing on the mic til my voice hoarse
Then I fill the tub up halfway then ride it with my surfboard, surfboard, surfboard
Graining on that wood, graining, graining on that wood
I'm swerving on that, swerving, swerving on that big body
Been serving all this, swerve, surfing all in this good, good

[Hook]

[Bridge]

[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
(I'm nice right now)
Hold up
That D'USSÉ is the shit if I do say so myself
If I do say so myself, if I do say so myself
Hold up,
Stumbled all in the house time to back up all of that mouth
That you had all in the car, talking 'bout you the baddest bitch thus far
Talking 'bout you be repping that third, I wanna see all the shit that I heard
Know I sling Clint Eastwood, hope you can handle this curve
Foreplay in the foyer, fucked up my Warhol
Slip the panties right to the side
Ain't got the time to take draws off, on site
Catch a charge I might, beat the box up like Mike
In '97 I bite, I'm Ike, Turner, turn up
Baby no I don't play, now eat the cake, Anna Mae
Said, "Eat the cake, Anna Mae!"
I'm nice, for y'all to reach these heights you gonna need G3
4, 5, 6 flights, sleep tight
We sex again in the morning, your breastases is my breakfast
We going in, we be all night

[Bridge]

[Verse 4: Beyoncé]
Never tired, never tired
I been sipping, that's the only thing that's keeping me on fire, me on fire
Didn't mean to spill that liquor all on my attire
I've been drinking watermelon
I want your body right here, daddy I want you, right now
Can't keep your eyes off my fatty
Daddy I want you

[Bridge]

Freedom

"Without the possibility of choice and the exercise of choice one is not a person but a member, an instrument, a thing." Archibald MacLeish

Spirituality involves the freedom to change. Growth requires a variety of choices. My past addiction was a life of slavery because it removed my creative choice and left me obsessing about drugs and alcohol. My life, conversation, and thoughts revolved around the bottle, and I was oblivious to the true meaning of life. My freedom to experience the spiritual power of God's creativity was lost in the mindless craving for drugs. In this sense, drug addiction is slavery. Today I am free to see God's world in people, places, and things. Now I make the choice to live, love, and laugh.

I am growing in my awareness of Your multifaceted love for me.

Live in Love and Non-judgment (KB)

The First Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. Energy is. Energy remains.

In the same way, love is. Love remains. Love is a force that can neither be diminished nor destroyed. It is one of greatest or perhaps even the greatest power that can exist on this earth.

If we can bring this power into ourselves, into our everyday actions, and into our consciousness, then we can create a world in which there can be acceptance and human dignity for ourselves, for others, and for humanity as a whole. This is how we will hopefully eventually do away with war. By bringing ourselves to a nonjudgmental way of seeing others, we can learn to live together in a peaceful world.

On this day of your life

On this day of your life,

Neytiri & Jake, I believe God wants you to know...

...that the future is brighter than ever. Not just humanity's
future, but your own, personally.

Things have shifted. The energy has been altered. You
can feel it if you deeply tune in. This shift is not your
imagination, nor is it merely on a national or global
level. There is a shift in you.

Feel it today, and use it to propel you to a wonderful
tomorrow. In fact, do better than feel the energy. BE
the energy. Be its Source. Then watch the conditions
of your own life change.

My Funny Valentine (S)

My funny valentine
Sweet comic valentine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable
Unphotographable
Yet youre my favourite work of art

Is your figure less than greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But dont change a hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day

Is your figure less than greek
Is your mouth a little weak
When you open it to speak
Are you smart?

But dont you change one hair for me
Not if you care for me
Stay little valentine stay
Each day is valentines day

Nature

Nothing is evil which is according to nature. -Marcus Aurelius

Oscar Wilde once said that a book is not good or bad; it is either well written or not. Sometimes we think that something is evil because it is different. Gay people have suffered from prejudice, as have people of color. Today more people understand that what God created is not evil. Our true nature is never evil. And there is a wonderful tapestry to life. This is the theme of Say Yes to Your Spirit. The things from God are true and real; they are blessed.

I embrace the full implications of my nature.

In Touch with True Emotions (OM)

Gut Response
Our bellies can be wonderful monitors of our emotional health and the truth can always be found there.

So often, emotions that we long to express get stored in our bodies instead. The space where this most often happens is in our bellies. Rather than telling people, our even ourselves, the way we truly feel, we may stuff our true feelings deep inside of us, where they take up space until we are ready to let them go. Stuffing our feelings in our bellies may feel like the “safe” response, since we then don’t really have to deal with our emotions. Yet, doing so can actually be detrimental to our emotional well-being and physical health.

One way to connect with and release your emotions is to do a focused exercise with your stomach area. Take a moment to center yourself with some deep breathing and quiet meditation, relaxing your body fully and turning off the chatter in your brain. With your right hand on your stomach, tell yourself three times: “Please reveal to me my true emotions.” Listen for the answers. Repeat the exercise as many times as you would like, allowing yourself to drop deeper into your body each time. Notice any physical response in the stomach area, whether you have a warm, relaxed feeling in the middle of your body or if you feel tight knots in response to any emotions that do come up. You may even want to write down any answers that come to you. Remember that the body doesn’t lie.

Releasing our pent up feelings from our bellies can prevent disease and allow us to live more authentic and expressive lives. Sometimes, if too much emotional energy builds up inside of us, a blowout can result that can cause discomfort. You can help to alleviate this compression by doing the same exercise and adding sound to your emotional release. The more guttural the sounds released through your mouth, the more emotions you are likely letting go. Releasing your emotions from your belly doesn’t have to be painful and hard; rather, it can be organic and effortless. It’s important not to judge whatever comes up for you. We tend to stuff our feelings in our bellies when we are ashamed of them or not ready to express them. There is nothing wrong with having feelings, whatever they may be. You can’t help your feelings; if anything, you can help yourself by acknowledging the truth of your emotions so you can set yourself free.

Gave Me Something [S]

I spent my weeks running wild
And now my days they have changed
I never thought I'd be
The girl that walked away
I found my one true love
In me you found it too
A path that ran to me and didn't make it hard to choose
Cos you found me hiding
With my heart hanging on the wall
You took a chance on me and
Didn't think that I would fall

You gave me hope and you let me know that oh
If I give it time it will all be mine and oh
You gave me something that I didn't have before
So I'ma give you something
To stop you saying more
You gave me something
I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something
To stop you saying more

Amber’s all I ever saw
Like my life was on hold
I never thought I’d see
The day the light change green
I’m holding onto gold
It’s me that you did trust
And nobody’s stone is carved
Who knows if this will last
Cos you found me hiding
With my heart hanging on the wall
You took a chance on me
And didn't think that I would fall

You gave me hope and you let me know that oh
If I give it time you'll all be mine and oh
You gave me something that I didn't have before
So I'ma give you something to stop you saying more
You gave me something
I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something
To stop you saying more
You gave me something
I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something
To stop you saying more

Running now, I’m running now
I’m running all the way
I’m running now, I’m running
When I’m running all the way
I’m running running running running
Running all the way
I’m running running running running
Running all the way

You gave me hope and you let me know that oh
If I give it time you'll all be mine and oh
You gave me something
I didn't have before
So I'ma give you something to stop you saying more
You gave me something I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something to stop you saying more
You gave me something I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something to stop you saying more
You gave me something I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something to stop you saying more
You gave me something I didn’t have before
And I'ma give you something to stop you saying more

Waking Up (KB)

Do you ever feel that life is moving faster now more than ever before?

The time between the things that we do and the consequences of our actions has been shortened through the cosmic energy. As this distance between cause and effect shrinks, many of us are finding ourselves in a place where change is almost being forced upon us. We are waking up to the need to be more conscious, to understand on the most fundamental level that there is more to life than just the bread we eat, or the clothes we put on our back, or the way we look.

Through this pressure, we are becoming more aware that reality is governed by consciousness—our consciousness. When we are decent to another human being, that decency transcends. When we are kind, that kindness transcends. When we extend love and caring, that love and caring transcend. And as we let go of our robotic words and actions, we tap into a higher creative force, the Divine spark that resides within each and every one of us.

Indeed, we are standing at the beginning of a wonderful and marvelous time in history, and it is our job, the job of humanity, to create an opening for love to change the world.

On this day of your life

On this day of your life,

Neytiri & Jake, I believe God wants you to know...

...that on this day will you have an opportunity to attend
your own campaign.

You are invited by life to elect yourself a Spiritual
Leader, and to take office today. What does a
spiritual leader say? A spiritual leader does not say,
"Follow me." A spiritual leader says, "I'll go first."

Decide today to take the oath: I promise to "go first"
in demonstrating forgiveness, compassion, understanding,
generosity, kindness, cheerfulness, positivity, and love.

Clarity (S)

High dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life
Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends
A clock ticks 'til it breaks your glass and I drown in you again

'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

(Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay. Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay. Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay. Hey-ay, hey)

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

Walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends
It cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense
Don't speak as I try to leave 'cause we both know what we'll choose
If you pull then I'll push too deep and I'll fall right back to you

'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

(Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay. Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay. Hey-ay, hey-ay-ay. Hey-ay, hey)

Why are you my clarity?
Why are you my remedy?
Why are you my clarity?
Why are you my remedy?

If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?

6 Myths about What it is to be Spiritual.

Via Charmayne Kilcup

Ten years ago, at the age of 24, I had a spontaneous spiritual awakening while meditating at our family cabin in Colorado.

My awakening blew me open in ways I never knew were possible. My ideas of God, spirituality, our purpose here and just about everything else got flipped upside down.
Previous to that, I had certain ideas about what it meant to be “spiritual,” which largely involved compassion, being perfect, and wearing a lot of purple. Ten years after that experience on a mountain in Durango, I can see how my ideas of what it meant to awaken were a bit misguided.
Here are just a few of the myths about spirituality that I wish someone had told me so I could have spared myself a lot of self-judgment in the process.
Myth #1: As you awaken, life will get easier.
The truth is, as you evolve spiritually, life doesn’t become all rainbows and sunshine. I had thought that as I awakened, there would be more love, grace, and abundance than ever before. And in a way there is. I experience insane and intense moments of connection, beauty, and loving.
However, I’ve learned that no matter how spiritual or connected you are, life will still keep throwing challenges your way. In fact, as we deepen in our spirituality, often times we experience more chaos and upheaval than ever before as we are clearing karma faster and faster. We are here to wake up, not always be 100 percent happy.
Myth #2: A truly spiritual being is okay with whatever happens to them because they are so neutral and clear.
Part of the spiritual path is about gaining neutrality and developing a witness consciousness. However, there are still times when I get angry, or sad, or feel disgusted. And these times are appropriate.
If you’ve ever read the Bible, you’ll see that even Jesus had moments of intense rage. The spiritual path doesn’t mean losing your emotional reactivity, it means becoming more conscious of where your reactions are coming from, so you learn when it is appropriate to express them. And there are times when it is appropriate to be angry, full of rage, or heartbroken. There are times when what we consider “reacting” is actually Spirit moving through us, helping us to break open into greater understanding.
Myth #3: To be spiritual is to be all-giving, self-sacrificing, and to put the world’s needs above your own.
This is one I believed for a long time and many good-hearted healers, therapists, and teachers seem to share this same belief. The old spirituality was about sacrificing ourselves for other people or for a higher cause. But we are in a new era now. In this new era of consciousness, we are here to love ourselves first and foremost. This involves putting ourselves first in our own lives, before we extend ourselves to save the world around us.
Doing so will set an example for other people who are sacrificing themselves in bad relationships or crappy jobs. Your permission to liberate and love yourself will give them permission to do the same.
Myth #4: Spiritual masters are always compassionate, always loving, and always “perfect.”
This is one I still grapple with. I had an image of what is means to be an enlightened spiritual being which included being all-knowing, all-wise, all-loving and compassionate at all times and all ways. This led to be being walked on, used, drained, and depleted in my personal life.
What I have since learned is that the spiritual path is about deepening into loving, but we also need wisdom and discernment as partners to that loving. I thought that as a spiritual person, I wouldn’t need boundaries, but it turns out I need them more than ever. As I have grown spiritually, I have a greater capacity for true loving, but less tolerance for being used, manipulated, or energetically drained.
Myth #5: If you are spiritual, you have to be “nice.”
Being “nice,” isn’t all it is cracked up to be. This may sound dramatic, but “niceness” is like a virus. It is the way many of us have been programmed in our families and in our cultures to behave, be still, and not make waves.
Spiritual masters were not “nice.” They were deeply loving and could love and touch the divinity inside those around them. But they knew they did not exist to please other people. They knew their purpose was much bigger than being “nice” to keep the peace.
There is a difference between inspired acts of generosity and kindness, and being nice to please other people and fit in. This does not mean you have to be mean to be spiritual either. It is only a call to examine your own personality traits and which ones are authentically you, and which ones you use to maintain an image of what it means to be spiritual or good.
Truth be told, I think most people who meet me would describe me as “nice.” I open heartedly love and adore people I come into contact with. However, I can see how my internal need to be “nice” kept me in some energetically abusive dynamics for far too long.
Myth #6: To be spiritual means you stop being human.
I had assumed that as I awakened more and more, my personality would soften and my body would be in perfect health. I thought I would stop getting cranky when I was hungry, or mad at my boyfriend when he steals the covers at night. I thought my health issues would vanish.
The truth is, as you awaken, you deepen in your humanness. Instead of getting mad at myself for getting irritable or grumpy, I am more and more coming to love that very human sweet part of myself who needs protein ever four hours and is upset and cries when someone verbally attacks her. To be spiritual doesn’t mean you stop being human, it means you accept and love your humanness even more. You begin to love yourself for your humanity, not in spite of it.

What I am learning is that spirituality isn’t about divorcing yourself from your humanity.

It is about embracing and loving all parts of you, especially the very human part. Can you meet your humanity with loving? What about your anger? Can you love that rage and all it is trying to do for you? Can you embrace depression and sadness and heartbreak? Can you love yourself even when you don’t feel perfect? Or when you are ill? Or have lost a loved one? Can you love yourself fiercely, no matter what?
That is spirituality.

Ideals

"An idealist is one who, on noticing a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes it will also make better soup." H. L. Mencken

My spiritual program teaches me to be an idealist with my feet on the ground. People will continue to hurt, get angry, and tell lies; wrestling with imperfections is not just my problem. I accept that I live in an imperfect world and recovery involves reality, not illusion. My responsibility in recovery is for my life. I cannot change other people, events, or relationships; I can only change me. I am not God. Each time I forget this fact, I risk another hurt.

Help me aspire to ideals within my grasp.

Julie B.’s Story

Hello CoDA Family,

My name is Julie B, a recovering codependent. I was a grateful member of the CoDA Board of Trustees from 2009 – 2012.

Serving on the CoDA Board of Trustees accelerated my spiritual growth on the “diamond lane of recovery”. Here are some highlights:

• I utilized the tools of our program; Steps, Traditions, Service Concepts, and Promises.

• I practiced the spiritual principles in a safe setting with Board members, Committee members, Delegates, Fellow Service Workers, etc… from around the world.

• I learned so much about how the CoDA service structure actually ties together as a whole, universally, via local, regional, and worldwide communities. This was amazing!

• I learned a new freedom and had the opportunity to express my feelings, voice my concerns, share creative ideas, establish healthy boundaries, resolve conflict, apply acceptance, forgiveness, make amends, embrace spiritual equality, and CoDA unity. I gave others the same privilege.

• My sponsor once told me that service work is a gift and great way to do my part by giving back to our fellowship. Yep, I definitely agree.

• Working with the Board and using the Steps/Traditions provided spiritual benefits which I currently apply to my relationship with my Higher Power, others, occupation, and personal life.

Would I serve on the CoDA Board of Trustees again? The answer is yes, you betcha! I believe more gifts are waiting to be given and received.

In service,

Julie B (Chico, CA) 7/28/15
